VING TSUN / WING CHUN – CHUM KIU = SEEKING BRIDGE ? Or SINKING BRIDGE?

The meaning of the term – 尋橋 in Chinese meaning: is to Seeking hand Bridge which is inadequate. The correct term should be 沉橋 meaning
SINKING BRIDGE. The plain explanation is : “to lower the forearm bridge.
Even many disciples of Great Grand Master Yip Man have misunderstood the terms in explaining the Chum Kiu skill. The question is that there are no seeking the opponent’s hand motion within Chum Kiu skill. All Chum Kiu’s motion are “ to lower your forearm bridge” “forward footing”, ” footing in station” ,
“footing balancing”, “practising the elbow striking”, “shifting footing with guarding hand (綁手Bong Sau) and the hand fencing”. Then, learn the basic kicking .The three sections of Ving Tsun martial art are for the basic training. Only through (Chi Sau) – hand contacting, you then, learn your combat skill and your reflection ability. By practising the wooden dummy and free hand
combating and with the above-mentioned motion of sinking forearm bridge action but not the seeking hand bridge action.

Today, many Ving Tsun / Wing Chun practitioners demonstrated their Ving Tsun skill at the Internet with their awful and non Ving Tsun skill. Have you ever heard the following

1, The fist punching, kicking without drawing back action.

2, There are only one single Ving Tsun Martial Art theory.

The meaning of the above are that you are trained to strike punch and kicking at your existing position. Then, your opponent can not predict your action.
The explanation is that your motion are visible but can not be predicted.
The second phrase indicated that the shortest distance between 2 point is the straight line. Therefore, when we are facing the opponent the centre point must be accurate. The understanding of a straight line is essential. There are no alternatives or compromised theories.
We have only one Great Grand Master Yip Man; some Ving Tsun practitioners tried to hide their ignorant by saying that : “different Master perform differently”
Such saying are inappropriate. The questions answering to the above are that you bear in mind to how much you have learnt; and how much you are able to maintaining the level of instructions.
Supposing you do make any alteration of Master Yip Man’s Ving Tsun skill, the first thing to do – you must not run your school bearing Yip Man’s Ving Tsun.
Again, if you discover that there are loop-hole within our Master Yip Man’s Ving Tsun skill and you replaced and altered the loop hole; Such alteration do match with the FORCE THEORY, and then, we will be more pleased and grateful to be your disciple. Sincerely hope that all disciples of our Great Grand Master Yip Man must take serious consideration to the above-said and just to avoid continuing the mistakes made.
In conclusion, defining the correct term of the explanation of Chum Kiu skill, I would like to remind all of you seriously that base on Ving Tsun skill which we remind all Ving Tsun practitioners that when combating,

“YOU SHOULD TARGET AT THE OPPONENT’S BODY AND MUST NOT TARGET AT THE OPPONENT’S HAND”.
